The Tangueria-Sidewalk Tango is highly qualified and experienced in all aspects of performance having organised many public and corporate events, community arts festivals, tango shows and stage productions throughout Australia and overseas. We are professionals dedicated to our art bringing together a show that is earthy engaging and routed in today’s society.

We offer very high professional standards in performance production and showmanship, leaving audiences feeling they have experienced a truly authentic tango show. In September 2000, Dianne together with her partner at the time, David Backler, were the first Australian couple to perform in the milongas (dance halls) of Buenos Aires. At the invitation of Diego Alvarez and Zoraida Fontclara of Confiteria Ideal, they performed at La Ideal Primavera Festival ‘00, ‘01, ‘02, and ‘03. Over the next 15 years, they went on to perform at many celebrated milongas throughout Buenos Aires, including Sunderland, Club de Gulf, and Bar Sur.

Our dance style, is tango cabaret, unique and bold, exploring the many different facets Tango Argentino has to offer. We have performed throughout Australia and across the world, including Shanghai, Korea, Singapore, Argentina, New Zealand and Chile. From drama to comedy, we offer a unique, dynamic and fun performance style.

The Tangueria-Sidewalk Tango offers a range of entertainment, bringing forward a wealth of dance training and showmanship. In addition to dancers, we can organise live Argentinian Tango musicians and singers encasing a complete premium tango show.

Your Event

Let us take care of your event entertainment. We can provide a dazzling fun show sure to please all, whether it be a birthday party, wedding or corporate event. From comedy to the dramatic your guests will experience a beautiful authentic tango show with exquisite costumes and evocative music.

To get the evening started we can offer a tango lesson for your guests followed by traditional Argentinan tango social dance performance and escanario (stage) dancing. All catered to suit your particular event. No event is too big or too small

Student Performance

Over the years The Tangueria-Sidewalk Tango has choreographed and held many student performances throughout Melbourne and rural Victoria, including the fabulous Martini Tango Milonga at the Creswick Theatre to sold out audiences.

Performance is built around student’s own level, is a great deal of fun and bonds and builds the community. Performance brings a deeper understanding of tango and opens the scope for it’s infinite possibilities. We work with each individual to bring forward and develop their own special talent.

The authentic and unrelentingly honest and revealing person to person interchanges of tango embody a true connection. At its best Tango brings a focused and respectful self-awareness and possibilities for self-expression and the potential for the experience of a deep sense of personal freedom and dignity.

In support of and in parallel with these ideas is the solid concrete evidence of Tango Argentino health benefits being witnessed in hospitals and university studies around the world showing physical and mental health benefits for treatment of Parkinsons disease, Dementia, and Depression
